Bruno Guimaraes tells Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe exactly what he wants to hear

Bruno Guimaraes insists he is ready to make his first start at St James' Park and hopes to have a 'big game' when Newcastle United host Wolves. The January signing has so far been made to wait by Eddie Howe for opportunities to impress.

Guimaraes has only made three brief cameos on home turf to date, but scored a memorable winner on his full debut at Southampton last March. The Brazil international went on to make a further two starts, but dropped back to the bench for last weekend's defeat at Tottenham following international duty.

Howe has confirmed he will have to make a late call on Joe Willock due to a minor knee injury, potentially opening the door for Guimaraes to make his full home debut. The 24-year-old has revealed his excitement at the prospect, and hopes to mark the occasion with a victory.

Asked if he feels ready to start, Guimaraes told NUFC TV: "I'm feeling good, I'm happy for the games with my country. We played very well.

"It's a relief [about Brazil], I didn't start the last game but this week I've trained, so I'm so focused on the next game and hope to start for the first time at St James' Park. I've been waiting for this, I hope to have a big game and win with my team-mates."

Guimaraes arrived from Lyon in the final week of the window, having completed his medical in Brazil while on international duty. The midfielder celebrated his first international goal last week with a baby celebration, and the father-to-be has also now been joined in the North East by his pet dog.

Asked if he now feels settled, Guimaraes answered: "I am now. The only thing left for me to do is start my first home game. It's somewhere I've wanted to play since my first day here.

"I haven't had many minutes in our stadium
