Bruno Guimaraes arrives in Newcastle on a private jet ahead of training debut

Bruno Guimaraes has landed in Newcastle following his £40m move to the club from Lyon.

The midfielder touched down in a private jet having starred for Brazil in a four-nil win over Paraguay earlier this week where he grabbed an assist.

Having flown back to France from his homeland, he took off from Paris to Tyneside, landing at the private airfield near the city's airport on Friday morning.

The 26-year-old arrived with his girlfriend Ana Lídia Martins with both posting pictures midflight of their journey.

Guimaraes was dressed sharp - in a navy suit and looked all smiles as he exited the plane into a private cab before being whisked off to his destination, believed to be the club's Benton training base.

Newcastle's signing of Guimaraes, who is expected to make his debut for United this Tuesday against Everton, is regarded as a coup given the interest in the midfielder.

Arsenal and Juventus were both said to be interested him but it was Newcastle who shocked the footballing world to get his signature.

French football expert Jonathan Johnson took to to provide an insight into Guimaraes.

When asked about why none of those clubs linked stole in to take the Brazilian he said: "I'm sure they were looking at what Newcastle were doing and didn't perhaps realise how serious the situation was at Lyon in terms that he could be prised away in January.
