Bruno Fernandes reveals what Erik ten Hag has brought to Man United that Ralf Rangnick didn't

Manchester United face the biggest test of their season so far on Sunday. They travel to champions Manchester City in a superb run of form, having won four league games on the bounce.

Key to their chances at the Etihad Stadium will be the performances of key men such as Bruno Fernandes. In the build-up to the highly-anticipated derby clash, the Portuguese has been speaking about the impact of new boss Erik ten Hag.

The Dutchman inherited a squad void of confidence after a wretched end to last season where they meekly finished just inside the top six. Fernandes says the United boss' methods are already clearly different to that of his predecessors, Ralf Rangnick and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Speaking on Sky Sports' Soccer AM, he said: "[Ten Hag] brought discipline to the team and we had a lack of discipline the last few times. He brought something that everyone always has to be aware of his position and aware of if you're playing or not.

"You don't have time to rest. You have to work hard and train hard and if you don't you're going to be pulled out of the team."

Fernandes will be expecting to start Sunday's derby at City. The Portugal international has started every league fixture of Ten Hag's short reign, notching one goal and one assist in the process.

Alongside Christian Eriksen and Scott McTominay, Fernandes has looked much more settled following a tough 2021/22 season, and he recently admitted that he hoped to stay at Old Trafford for many years to come.
