There are plenty of people who say there is no such thing as being ‘too rich’, but apply that to the context of Chelsea’s youth talent, and you’ll find it’s not true.

Producing an immense number of academy talents from all age groups, Chelsea face a big job every season of managing their vast pool of incredibly talented youngsters, ensuring they develop properly and can make a professional career out of their potential.

Within that, the law of averages would suggest that some make it at Chelsea, too. It’s an incredible luxury to have youth stars bed into the first team and prove a success, but with the sheer number of talents Chelsea have on their books, they ought to make sure they do their best to ensure it does happen.

Currently, the Blues have 24 players shipped out on loan for the 2021/22 season. In and among that embarrassment of youth talent riches are a couple of anomalies, mind you. Those anomalies being failed signings and former youth stars who have now overstayed their welcome.
