British title fight is the highlight of a packed evening of boxing in Glasgow

A Viewpark boxer’s British title bid is just one of nine matches on offer at the latest Fight Night event to be held in Glasgow on Friday.

Ray Kelly will take on Blackpool’s Sam Collier for the EBF lightweight title as the main event at the Doubletree by Hilton.

Gary Torbet is defending his novice title as he pushes his way up to a Scottish title fight in June.

And there will be a special appearance from former British middleweight champion boxer Brian Rose.

Promoter Francis Gilluley, the owner of Fighting Scots Gym in Mossend, said: “I’ve got a show in the Doubletree by Hilton in Glasgow, Fight Club, and it’s the 11th anniversary of the gym opening as well, so it’s a big show.

“We’ve got a lot of new fighters, nine fights, and the main event is a British title fight with Ray Kelly v Sam Collier from Blackpool.

“We have nine Lanarkshire fighters, a junior exhibition, and Gary Torbet is defending his title and pushing up the rankings for a Celtic title.

“Shaun McNiven is going to be chasing titles as well, he’s looking for one in September, and there are loads more.

“We also have special guest, world title challenger and WBO Intercontinental champion Brian Rose.”

Tickets are available for the evening, and can be bought from fighters, or from Fighting Scots Gym, which can be found on Facebook.
