Britain's Got Talent star who performed with David Walliams dies aged 51

A much-loved Britain's Got Talent star who previously performed in the final alongside David Walliams has died aged 51.

Will Read, best known for his role in comedy act The Showbears, which catapulted to fame in 2012, has passed away aged 51 after a battle with cancer.

He died at his Macclesfield home on August 7 with his friend and brother by his side, reports the Mirror.

Known for their bedazzled sailor suits in that year's live semi-final, The Showbears made a name for themselves in the final when they were joined up on stage by TV funnyman David. Will went on to tour Europe with Gloria Estefan's band, performing all over.

"Will aged 51 years of Macclesfield, peacefully passed away on Wednesday 7th August 2024," the performer's obituary notice reads.

"Dearly loved son of Kate, much loved brother of Tom, cherished brother in law of Marianne and fabulous uncle of Jimmy and Liam. Will was an accomplished musician excelling in percussion, drum and vocals."

"He toured with Gloria Estefan and cruised the world as a musical director in his successful career. He will be greatly missed by all his family, many friends and colleagues."
