Unassuming man grabs microphone at open mic night – then people clock who he is

Open mic nights can be a real mixed bag – because as the name would suggest, anyone at the venue can get their turn on the microphone.

While there's a chance you'll get to hear a quality musician in a tiny venue, there's also a strong possibility that you'll be left sat listening to a complete amateur who sounds like they've headed out for a karaoke session.

On X, Gilmour wrote: "Very much enjoyed crashing @GilmourRomany's gig at the Neptune in Hove this evening after finishing tour rehearsals…"

And it's safe to say fans were stunned by his appearance. One wrote: "Wow imagine just sitting in a local pub/bar and in walks Gilmour. Such a cool thing. Romany has such an amazing voice. Love this so much." And another gushed: "A true musician! Willing to play stadiums as well as a tiny pub! Brilliant!"

David Gilmour is a British musician, singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, best known as the guitarist and one of the lead vocalists for the progressive rock band Pink Floyd.

He was born in Cambridge back in 1946 and
