Bristol City suffer frustrating player blow

Bristol City have struggled in their last two Championship outings and they’re likely to struggle even more with the news from Bristol World that Kasey Palmer has been ruled out of action.

Whilst the player hasn’t managed to feature too prominently for the club this year – he’s managed only six appearances for the Robins during this campaign – he has still been an option if needed by Nigel Pearson.

He most recently sat on the bench in the Championship for Bristol City’s game against Fulham back in the middle of January but he won’t even make the bench for the next few weeks now, with this report claiming that he could be out for up to two months.

While not a first-team regular, it will be a blow to the Robins to see yet another midfield option ruled out of action. It means that the side will need to be careful in terms of their selection in that position, with them already having a number of knocks to other players who play centrally.

Palmer could have been on his way out in the winter window but has stayed on at Ashton Gate – but rather than playing a part for the club in the second half of the season, even if a bit-part one, he will instead have to watch on from the stands.

Palmer featured much more frequently for the club last season but has been limited to just the one league start for the side this year. Rather than being able to build on that now, he will instead have to begin the road to recovery from this fairly hefty injury.

The Verdict

Whilst Kasey Palmer being sidelined isn’t perhaps an immediate worry for Bristol City and their fans – especially considering that he isn’t a first-team regular – it could end up being a blow if other midfielders pick up knocks.

It’s always good to have plenty of options
