Bristol City's attacking threat will pose stern final test for Huddersfield Town
Huddersfield Town’s regular season ends with a visit to the John Smith’s Stadium by Bristol City and there is still a little bit on the line despite outward appearances. The Terriers may have both their place in the play-offs confirmed and a position that means a second semi-final leg at home to come, but there is a chance to finish third at stake.
Nottingham Forest travel to Hull and after a leggy performance and defeat in Bournemouth are likely to rest a few players and start their preparations early after a gruelling couple of months. Town will also rotate we would guess, but third place would represent their highest ever Championship finish and also give them whoever finishes in sixth as their opponents. They will also be keen to keep the momentum up and get their 23rd win of the season against an opponent with nothing to play for.
So they won’t be taking it easy or playing the B Team here, but they will obviously pick a side and a plan with one eye on the semi-final ahead. What then might they expect from this game? Bristol have underperformed this season, they should not be in 17th place in truth, but there’s still every reason to hope Town can finish with a win.
Everything goes out the window on the final day but the one thing to expect here is a definitive result. There’s not been a draw between these two sides since 2007. Bristol have largely had the upper hand in recent history and this is usually a good game when these two meet – ten of the last twelve meetings between them have featured three or more goals.
Bristol have been a weird team this season. A big squad with some good players, one of the better strikers in the league who has scored 22 already, bags of experience, a good manager, and yet still
