Brilliant Proteas floor Aussies in stunning fashion, book spot in T20 World Cup final

Anneke Bosch led from the front with a stunning unbeaten 74 as the Proteas knocked favourites Australia out of the T20 World Cup and progressed to the final.

Bosch and captain Laura Wolvaardt's partnership was instrumental as the Proteas chased 135 in the Dubai semi-final to win by eight wickets against the defending champions.

It was always going to be a tricky run chase despite Australia's evident struggles against the Proteas that saw them post 134-5 in their innings.

The Proteas got off to a positive start before opener Tazmin Brits was bowled out by Annabel Sutherland for a run-a-ball 15.

However, a 96-run second-wicket stand between Wolvaardt and Bosch ensured that the Proteas tamed the Aussie bowlers, attacking at every opportunity as the SA kept ahead of the required run rate.

Runs continued to tick over with some stellar shots from Bosch and Wolvaardt, who, at one stage, were dealing in boundaries.

Wolvaardt was the sideshow to Bosch's heroics but made a crucial 42 off 37 balls, hitting three fours and a six.

Bosch, who has cemented her place at No 3 after this knock, was splendid as she showed intent, bringing up her fifth T20 half-century off 31 balls.

She delivered the highest score of the World Cup so far as she remained unbeaten on 74 off 48 balls (hitting eight fours and a six) and smashed the winning runs with 16 balls to spare.
