'Brilliant' - James Hunter hails Sunderland ace who made five accurate long balls vs Burton

James Hunter was left hailing Anthony Patterson after he made a big save for Sunderland in their 1-1 draw at home to Burton Albion on Tuesday night.

The Wearside club have still not got a win in League One since the departure of Lee Johnson, with their last three points coming at home to Plymouth Argyle in a 1-0 victory last month.

Alex Neil is now the man tasked with getting them promoted up to the Championship, but the Stadium of Light faithful saw more dropped points in their recent clash.

After making a vital save to keep the hosts in the game, The Chronicle journalist Hunter took to Twitter to hail goalkeeper Patterson:

“Brilliant save from Patterson to keep #safc in the game.”

If it were not for Patterson, the Black Cats could have easily lost the match, and so Patterson’s save was crucial in them at least taking a point away.

It was not the only save that he made throughout the fixture, with no fewer than four made in total, as he also produced five accurate long balls, the third-most out of his teammates, and was accurate with 17 of his passes (S0faScore).

Nonetheless, SAFC cannot keep relying on the 21-year-old to bail them out of trouble, and so must find some form from somewhere if they are to keep up their promotion fight from now until the end of the season.
