Allan Saint-Maximin's classy message for family of Sunderland fan Michael Waggott

Allan Saint-Maximin showed his class and sent a message of support to the friends and family of Michael Waggott, after the Sunderland supporter tragically passed away in hospital. The Black Cats fan took ill during Sunderland's game against Burton Albion, with play suspended while he emergency services tried to save his life.

Play at the Stadium of Light was suspended for 52 minutes against the Brewers last Tuesday where Michael received treatment from emergency services. The lifelong supporter was transferred to Sunderland Royal Hospital but sadly passed away on Thursday 24 February.

Sunderland took to social media to lead the tributes with an outpouring of support from fans. Saint-Maximin has put any rivalry between the two club's aside and sent a message of support for Michael's family.

Saint-Maximin tweeted: "Rest in peace Michael…Condolences to Michael's family his friends and to all at SAFC."

Michael's brother responded to the tweet: "Thank you Allan. Michael was my brother. It means a lot."

Newcastle United also put rivalry aside and tweeting their condolences. They wrote on their official Twitter: “Very sad news. The thoughts of everyone at #NUFC are with Michael’s family and friends at this time. Rest in peace, Michael.”
