Brett Hodgson reveals one of the first names on Hull FC team sheet as he champions the pack

Brett Hodgson has described improving Hull FC prop Jack Brown as one of the first players on the team sheet after a string of impressive performances. The 21-year-old has been an ever present in the Black and Whites side this year and has repaid the FC boss with his displays on the field.

It's the first time Brown has been able to nail down a spot since his emergence in 2019 and Hodgson says it isn't without merit. Talking up the young forward, Hodgson said his development was a great example for fellow young products who are coming through the club's system.

"I'm really proud of Browny," Hodgson said. "He was in and out of teams last year and it was one of those where his performances were OK but not enough to keep him in the team consistently. It's one of those where do you give them the game time to improve consistency or do you be more consistent to get game time? He's done the latter and performed exceptionally well.

"He's got his decision making right with when to offload and when to roll his sleeve up and get tackled. He could always play, he just had some disciplines to work on. We're really happy with how Browny is contributing.

"I've said before, I don't think we should be giving shirts to everyone and everyone who plays in this team at the weekend has to continue to perform to the level to keep playing and Browny is testament to that. He's working hard in training and performing well. He's one of the first names on the team sheet."
