Brett Hodgson provides latest on Swift and Gale & reveals fresh injury blow

Hull boss Brett Hodgson has provided a fresh update on injured pair Adam Swift and Luke Gale, while also revealing a minor injury blow to back-rower Manu Ma’u. 

Half-back Gale left the field during the club’s 4-0 defeat to Warrington with a heavy head knock and was soon taken to hospital. 

Hodgson has confirmed that his captain will undergo the regular concussion protocols. It means he will miss the upcoming game against Leeds.

The club are still waiting further scans to reveal the extend of Swift’s injury. It was suspected that the winger broke his leg at the Halliwell Jones Stadium during the first half.

“We got an X-ray but it didn’t show anything definitive,” Hodgson said on Swift. “We’re waiting on an MRI. We will have to wait for those results.

“I think on the weekend we’ll have a little bit more definitive proof of what’s actually going on. But he’s in a bit of pain at the moment.

“He had a plate inserted in that same leg many years ago. So we thought there might have been an irritation with that. 

“And as I said, the X-ray didn’t show anything other than that. So hopefully, that’s all it is. But the fact that he is in still some substantial pain probably indicates that there might be a fracture there that we’ve missed. 

“But again, there’s no use confirming that either way, at the moment, we’ll just wait and see what the scan says.”
