Brendan Rodgers makes feelings clear on Adam Idah horror tackle as Celtic boss offers injury update after Motherwell red

Unhappy Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has revealed the latest on Adam Idah's fitness after Motherwell's Liam Gordon's horror challenge on the striker.

The champions had to go without injured skipper Callum McGregor at Fir Park as they strolled to victory thanks to goals from Luke McCowan, Alistair Johnston and Adam Idah to move ahead of Aberdeen and back to the summit of the Scottish Premiership table. The Steelmen would finish the game with 10 men after Gordon's lunge on goalscorer Idah was upgraded to a red card following a VAR review at the pitchside monitor after referee David Dickinson originally issued a yellow to the Motherwell defender.

The Ireland international was in clear discomfort following the tackle as he limped throughout the remainder of the game before the full-time whistle. Rodgers insisted that Gordon did not attempt to hurt the Celtic man with the high tackle as he offered an update on his fitness.

He told Sky Sports: "I think it felt a bit numb for him at first. Obviously it's not a great challenge but I don't think the player has tried to hurt him. The problem is when you leave the ground, and then it rocked his ankle.

"So, he was struggling a little bit after that. I think once he got moving he felt OK. We just have to see when he takes the boot off, but I'm sure there will be a little bit of swelling."
