Brendan Rodgers handed Celtic transfer list including firepower and muscle as three positions deemed necessities

Brendan Rodgers has been told to get after a left-back, a striker and enforcing number six this January as part of his Celtic recruitment drive.

So far, winger Nicolas Kuhn has been added to the Hoops' squad and more players could be on the way. Plenty of position are up for debate, with Joe Hart's future between the sticks a hot topic amongst fans. A move for Liverpool's Owen Beck was in the works before the left-back made an appearance for the Reds against Bournemouth, meaning the only other club he can play for this term is Dundee, who he spent the first half of the season with.

Striker options such as Mathias Kvistgaarden have also had a mention. Alongside a left-back and striker, Record Sport columnist Tam McManus reckons a number six may be needed in midfield. He told PLZ: "I think it gives the whole place a boost if they get new signings in. I think they need a left-back.

"I think they need someone in there to give Greg Taylor a run for his money. I think they need another striker. We have gone back and forth with Oh, I think he is a a handy back-up. I think they need a number nine in there to either play alongside him or be strong back-up.

"That is the two areas and possibly a number six. A sitting midfield player that can put his foot in, physical. Two or three. I think they will sign a couple of players and that is the three areas for me.

Neil Lennon also reckons a physical presence is needed in the engine room. The former Celtic boss added: "I would want a big number six and release Callum McGregor forward. Against better quality opposition, he is more attuned to playing the eight role."
