Brendan Rodgers blows Celtic conspiracy theory away as Callum McGregor return is 'imminent'

Brendan Rodgers has revealed crocked Celtic skipper Callum McGregor’s return from injury is “imminent” in what will be a huge boost for the Parkhead side ahead of a massive season run-in.

The hugely influential Hoops captain has been sidelined due to an issue with his Achilles and calf and missed the Scottish Premiership defeat to Hearts, Scottish Cup win over Livingston and league victory against St Johnstone. There were fears over when the 30-year-old would be back in action - with some suggestions that he could be out for the SEASON - but Rodgers has moved to allay them.

Rodgers takes his side across the M8 to rock bottom Livingston with domestic action returning after the international break and the Irishman’s words to Celtic TV will be music to the ears of fans as he spoke of McGregor’s return timeline. It was put to Rodgers: “With Cameron now back to fitness and the imminent return of our captain Callum McGregor, and instrumental midfielder Reo Hatate, this could make a big difference. How important is it to have all your players back who have experienced the title run-in before?"

And he responded: ”Of course it's great if they're available. Each one is obviously different but when they have that knowhow and experience with how to deal with it [title run-in] then that can be key. I think the three players mentioned there are obviously hugely influential players for the team. So, it will be great to have them back and available.”
