BREAKING: Traffic STOPPED on M60 due to 'police incident' - live updates

Traffic has been stopped on a stretch of the M60 following a 'police incident' this evening. Almost three miles of queues are currently backing up approaching the scene, between junctions 22 and 23, near Droylsden and Oldham.

All traffic has been stopped on the clockwise carriageway. An image from the scene shows police in attendance.

A spokesperson for National Highways North West wrote on X (formerly Twitter): "Traffic is held on the #M60 clockwise near #Oldham #Droylsden - between J22 and J23 due to an @gmpolice led incident. Delays building, almost 3 miles of congestion on the approach."
