BREAKING: Three arrested after attack in Greater Manchester town - updates

Three men have been arrested for an assault in Ashton-under-Lyne this afternoon, police have confirmed.

Cops were called to Old Street in the centre of the Tameside town at roughly 3pm today (November 24). In what the M.E.N. understands to be a 'fast-moving' situation, police made three arrests.

However, it is not yet known how bad any injuries suffered are. The circumstances around the incident also remain unknown at this time.

"Greater Manchester Police responded to reports of an assault on Old Street in Ashton-under-Lyne at around 3pm today (Friday 24 November 2023)," a statement from the force said.

"Three males have subsequently been arrested in connection with this incident. Enquiries are ongoing at this stage to establish the full circumstances and the extent of the injuries suffered."

The police are asking anyone with information that may help officers are asked to call 101 quoting incident 2092 of 24/11/2023. Alternatively, details can be passed on anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

A police spokesperson has confirmed CSI officers are in attendance in Ashton.
