BREAKING: Road taped off and police 'everywhere' after serious incident in Trafford - LIVE

A road has been taped off in Trafford this afternoon following a serious incident - as neighbours described seeing 'police everywhere.'

Riddings Road in Timperley has been closed in both directions from Sylvan Avenue to Swan Road, according to traffic information site, INRIX.

No further details about the nature of this incident have been revealed at this stage. Greater Manchester Police have been approached for more information.

Pictures from the scene show a quiet residential street which has been cordoned off by police, with at least six police vehicles seen parked nearby.

A Crime Scene Investigation unit is also understood to be at the scene.

The same lady added: “I can’t believe it really. It’s just so quiet here, there’s never problems or anything but they’ve had police here for hours. There were about three ambulances too” @MENnewsdesk

A homeowner on Crofton Road just told me: “Me and my husband went out for a walk earlier and saw 7 or 8 police cars just flying down the road. We hadn’t a clue what had gone on. When we came back it was all closed off, it seems really serious” @MENnewsdesk

One man who lives on nearby Crofton Avenue just told me: “the police arrived at about 2:30pm. They closed the road off pretty quickly. There were 3 paramedic cars and an ambulance and they took a stretcher into a house” @MENnewsdesk
