BREAKING: Pedestrian fighting for life in hospital after serious crash
A man is fighting for his life in hospital after sustaining 'life threatening injuries' in a crash in south Manchester.
Emergency services raced to Hyde Road in Gorton at around 11:45pm on Tuesday (June 3) following reports of a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian.
The pedestrian, a man in his 30s, was rushed to hospital where he remains.
Police said a man in his 50s was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving. He remains in police custody for questioning.

Pictures show a large police presence on Hyde Road this morning with evidence markers placed in the road.
In a statement, Greater Manchester Police said: "At around 11.45pm on Tuesday 3 June we were called to reports of a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian on Hyde Road, Gorton.
"Emergency services attended the scene and a man in his 30s was taken to hospital with injuries that are believed to be life threatening.
"A man in his 50s was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving.
"He remains in custody for questioning.
"Our Serious Collisions Investigations Unit (SCIU) is appealing for witnesses who may have seen this incident, or who may have any dashcam footage, to please come forward.
