BREAKING - Four Man City stars nominated for Ballon d'Or as major star misses out
Four Manchester City players have been nominated for the 2024 Ballon d'Or. Last year, Lionel Messi got his hands on the award ahead of Erling Haaland, who ranked second, and Kylian Mbappe, who clinched third.
After another brilliant start to the Premier League season, the Norway international will be hoping to be finally crowned the best player in the world following his nomination. Phil Foden, Ruben Dias and Rodri have also been put forward for the Ballon d'Or, although Kevin De Bruyne surprisingly missed out.
Bernardo Silva, Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk have also been omitted from the nominees list. Meanwhile, Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Jr and Kylian Mbappe have been put forward for the award.

The other Ballon d'Or nominees are as follows: Federico Valverde, Emiliano Martinez, Nico Williams, Granit Xhaka, Artem Dovbik, Toni Kroos, Dani Olmo, Florian Wirtz, Martin Odegaard, Mats Hummels, Harry Kane, Declan Rice, Cole Palmer, Vitinha, Dani Carvajal, Lamie Yamal, Bukayo Saka, Hakan Calhanoglu, William Saliba, Lautaro Martinez, Ademola Lookman, Antonio Rudiger and Alejandro Grimaldo.
Speaking to reporters following Manchester City's 1-1 draw with Chelsea back in February 2024, Pep Guardiola named Rodri as the best midfielder in the world. The former Barcelona boss said: "He’s an unbelievable player. He’s the best midfield player in the current world by far.
"It’s because he’s able to do everything. So the tempo he has, especially his character when the situation is going
