BREAKING: Emergency services cordon off Morrisons petrol station after reports of gas leak - latest updates

Emergency services have cordoned off a Morrisons petrol station and supermarket in Tameside after reports of a gas leak.

The store on Mottram Road in Hyde is closed off this morning with police and fire crews at the scene. Police tape is in place around the area, including around the petrol station.

Police said they were called at around 7.15am this morning to a 'report of a gas leak from the pumps' at the petrol station. Road closures have been put in place.

A GMP spokesperson said: "At 7:15am this morning (10 October 2022), we received a report of a gas leak from the pumps at the Morrisons Petrol Station on Mottram Road in Hyde. GMFRS and police are attending, and road closures have been put in place while the incident is managed."

The Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and Morrisons have also been approached for information.
