Brandon Williams makes blunt 'no point' admission about Manchester United future

Brandon Williams has insisted that there is "no point" in returning to Manchester United ahead of next season just to warm the substitutes bench.

The United academy graduate, 21, has spent almost this season on loan at Premier League strugglers Norwich City. He joined the Canaries last August in pursuit of regular first-team football and has been a near ever-present figure since Dean Smith was appointed as manager back in November.

Under previous Canaries boss Daniel Farke, Williams struggled to nail down his place in the team, just like fellow loanee Billy Gilmour. It was suggested that Farke did not trust the youthful duo and wanted to stand by his more experienced players who had helped the club secure promotion last season.

But since Smith replaced the German, Williams has not looked back. He's now made 19 appearances under the former Aston Villa chief, in comparison to just seven under Farke, meaning he has developed at a rapid rate of knots.

However, with his season-long loan stint at Carrow Road now coming towards its conclusion, questions are being raised about the defender's future and what it might hold for him. And he has hinted that he would be disappointed if his next move is to return to Old Trafford and not be a regular fixture in the team.

"I'm playing games now and I love it," Williams told the Mail. "I can't wait for the weekend so I can get to the stadium.

"There would be no point in me going back to United and just sitting on the bench. I want to play and feel I'm better equipped for the Premier League after this experience.

"Whether it's at United or somewhere else, we'll deal with that in the summer. But I've got a job to do here at Norwich."
