Alex Telles makes admission about Manchester United reaction to 'annoyed' fans

Alex Telles accepts why Manchester United fans are annoyed at the moment, and has insisted the club’s players will work to turn around their dismal form.

United’s season looks set to end on a flat note, with their top four hopes all-but over after dropping more points in their past two games. Last week’s defeat at Everton appears to have sealed their fate, with United now sitting six points off the coveted final Champions League spot.

Recent results against the Toffees and Leicester have summed up what has been a dismal campaign at Old Trafford. Having held ambitions of staging a title challenge during pre-season, those hopes were quickly extinguished.

The last couple of performances in particular have raised the ire of United fans, with the players offering very little despite still being in the hunt for fourth. Telles admits he can see why supporters are upset, but insists the club’s players are trying to turn things around.

“We here at the club, we know the responsibility it is to play for Manchester United. We carry that responsibility that way,” Telles told Sky Sports.

“All the players are here on merit, they deserve to be here. We look to do our absolute best, and that includes winning trophies, so obviously when that doesn’t happen, when we’re not winning games, the fans are right to be annoyed.

“We bear that responsibility, but we work really hard every day, so it’s up to us to change and turn these negative criticisms into positive thoughts.

“The fans always support us, they always do their best by us, so we need to transform the negatives into positives.”
