Boy, 16, charged after '160 bags of cocaine and heroin found in raid'

A 16-year-old boy has charged on suspicion of drugs offences after around 160 bags of suspected cocaine and heroin were found in a raid in north Manchester.

Officers raided an address in the Collyhurst area on Wednesday (April 10). They found the suspected bags of drugs, as well as a 'large amount of cash' and a mobile phone, police said.

A teenager was arrested. A 16-year-old boy - who cannot be named - has since been charged in relation to the raid.

He has been charged with possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply; conspiracy to supply Class A drugs; and possession of criminal property. The boy has been remanded into custody ahead of a court appearance.

Detective Sergeant Jamie Heaton, from GMP’s City of Manchester North Challenger team, said: "Challenger is committed to tackling organised crime across Greater Manchester and this type of work is going on every day. The action taken this week will send out a strong message that dealing drugs is simply not acceptable and we are coming after people involved in those supply lines.

"We rely on intelligence reports from the public and every day we are working to investigate criminal behaviour and make arrests, also taking criminals and drugs off the streets of our city. I would urge anyone with any information about organised crime to tell police, either via 101, our website or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111. Always dial 999 in an emergency."
