Boxer Brandon Grant 'buzzing' for professional fight debut

Boxer Brandon Grant is ‘focused on the victory’ as he prepares for his first professional fight later this month.

Rutherglen 20-year-old Grant is signed up with Kynoch Boxing Scotland and will feature on the undercard of the Darren Johnstone v Paul Kean Celtic super middleweight title fight in Glasgow on Saturday, October 26.

Super flyweight Grant will take on Hull boxer Luke Fash during Fright Night 2 at the Crowne Plaza, and is buzzing for the fight and in intense training in preparation.

Previously with Priestfield ABC in Blantyre, Grant moved up from the amateurs after feeling that he wasn’t getting many fights, and decided he might as well take the plunge.

He said: “It would feel good to get the win straight away, and I’m hopeful.

“I’m in a training camp now for the fight at the Crowne Plaza, which is a good place for my first fight.

“I’ve been training hard and all I’m thinking about is the victory at the end, and to see where that takes me.

“I’m trying to get 50 rounds of sparring before the fight, and other than that I’m running, training, eating well.

“If this one goes well I’ll probably have another fight in a few months.

“It’s a great opportunity and I’m excited to see what happens on the pro scene. I can’t wait, I’m buzzing for it.

“I signed up in July, because I wasn’t getting many amateur fights any more, so I thought I may as well go pro and see where it goes.

“Kynoch is one of the busiest promoters, so I should get more fights.”
