Bottom-seeded host teams advance to U Sports women's and men's hockey finals
The Waterloo Warriors have advanced to the Miller Waste U Sports women's hockey championship final with a 5-1 semifinal win over the fifth-seeded Concordia Stingers on Saturday at Woolwich Memorial Centre in Elmira, Ont.
Brodi Levitt scored twice and added two assists for the eighth-seeded Warriors, who will play the third-seeded Bishop's Gaiters in Sunday's final. The Gaiters edged the Toronto Varsity Blues 2-1 in Saturday's other semifinal.
Gracey Smith, Kassidy McCarthy and Madison Pritchard also scored for the Warriors. McCarthy also had two assists.
Alexandra-Anne Boyer scored for the Stingers, who were outshot 32-27.
The Stingers went 0-for-1 on the power play, while the Warriors were 0-for-3.
Waterloo Warriors beat the defending champions 5-1 and will play for the gold medal tomorrow against the Bishop’s Gaiters at 6. p.m. ET
