Borussia Dortmund warning proves Erik ten Hag was right about Jadon Sancho at Manchester United

Jadon Sancho's absence from the Manchester United squad in September and the remainder of 2023 was the final nail in his coffin at Old Trafford.

After the 23-year-old's extended break due to personal matters last season, hopes of Sancho enjoying a better campaign were high in the summer as Erik ten Hag trialled him in a false nine role in the US. However, the Englishman's extreme reaction to his training performances being called into question was the final straw.

A period of exile was to follow for Sancho as the winger felt the raff of Ten Hag. There was only one course of action permissible in January and it unfolded midway through the month as a reunion with Borussia Dortmund beckoned.

At first, Ten Hag critics pointed to Sancho's upturn in form with Dortmund as a sign of a misstep by the boss. The winger bagged two assists in his first couple of Bundesliga matches which was impressive considering how long he was sidelined for.

Since then though, Sancho has reverted into the frustrating player United fans are familiar with. He has not registered a goal or assist in the four appearances since his contribution against FC Koln, albeit his contribution against Freiburg was merely a cameo.

On his return to the Champions League on Tuesday night, Sancho was largely anonymous against PSV Eindhoven and was replaced on 68 minutes. After the match, his new head coach Edin Terzic sent a warning to the winger.

"With Jadon, it's always good to have him around," Terzic insisted to TNT Sports. "Inside the team, inside the group and also inside the squad on a matchday, because you know Jadon is capable of making
