"Boost Leeds' chances" - Journalist confident Marsch can lure "top-class" 27 y/o to Elland Road

Leeds United could be an “attractive option” for Liverpool attacker Takumi Minamino, claims journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The Reds are thought to be open to selling the 27-year-old this summer, and Elland Road has been named as a possible destination for him.

According to The Times, Leeds and Southampton, where Minamino spent the second half of the 2020/21 season on loan, are both interested in signing the Japanese player.

The same outlet, as well as BBC Sport, claims that he will cost his next club £17m.

Minamino has been a bit-part player for Liverpool since joining the Reds from Red Bull Salzburg in the 2020 winter transfer window, starting just the sole Premier League game in the campaign that has just gone.

A move away from Anfield now looks inevitable, with a reunion with Jesse Marsch seemingly a possibility.

O’Rourke thinks the Marsch factor could give Leeds a boost in their mission to bring the former Salzburg man in. The two, of course, previously worked with each other at the Red Bull Arena.

Speaking about Leeds’ interest in Marsch’s former player, O’Rourke told GIVEMESPORT: “I think staying in the Premier League could be an attractive option for him, and working again with Marsch, I’m sure, will boost Leeds’ chances of maybe getting the deal done for Minamino.”
