Bolton Wanderers target set for Wigan Athletic, Portsmouth and Sheffield Wednesday clashes

Ian Evatt believes the next week of action for Bolton Wanderers will give them a good indication of how far his side have develped and evolved as a team as they take on three of the biggest names in League One.

Wanderers have a derby clash at the DW Stadium tomorrow against Wigan Athletic as they play three games in the space of eight days.

After that, fixtures at the University of Bolton Stadium quickly follow against Portsmouth and Sheffield Wednesday, with all three teams either in the hunt for automatic promotion or involved in the conversation for the play-offs.

The results of these matches will determine if Wanderers' slim hopes of reaching the play-offs this season remain or not.

The Wanderers squad was transformed in the January transfer window with seven signings being made and Evatt believes the next three games will be a good benchmark for where his side now stands.

But he vowed all focus is on the Latics and that if they can emerge victorious in that encounter, Wanderers can fancy their chances against any in League One.

He said: "This week particular, a very good week. Two big home games and one big away one. It will give us a benchmark to where we are at and how far we have developed and evolved as a team.

"We know that we have still got work to do. We are getting better all the time but for now we need to focus on Wigan, a real big challenge.

"They ask you a lot of questions, defensively we have to stand up to that and then make sure we impact them with our gameplan. If we can do that, we fancy ourselves against anybody."
