Bolton Wanderers boss Ian Evatt on Gillingham win, doing ugly side well and victory for Gethin Jones

Bolton Wanderers returned to winning ways in style with a 3-0 win on the road against a Gillingham side fighting to stay in League One.

Wanderers took the lead in the first half thanks to a brilliant strike from Aaron Morley for his first goal as a Bolton player.

The Gills went down to 10 men midway through the second half when Daniel Phillips was shown a second yellow card.

And Wanderers capitalised with the extra man with goals from Declan John and Jon Dadi Bodvarsson before full-time in a scoreline where Bolton could have won by a much greater margin.

After the game, Wanderers boss Ian Evatt spoke to the press and here's a transcript of his initial reaction to the victory which leaves them seven points from the League One play-offs.

Was that a satisfying afternoon?

“Very. I think we were excellent from start to finish. A slight disappointment is we could have scored a hell of a lot more, but I thought we dominated the game.

"We controlled the ball like I want us to do, maybe the week on the grass and the week’s rest has given us that opportunity to work on things and implement where we want our defenders to get to receiving the ball in possession and how some of our rotations work.

“They implemented it perfectly and the only disappointment is we didn’t score enough goals. Three probably flattered them and that says a lot about our performance.”

Overall you must be really pleased with what you’re seeing and to come to Gillingham as it looked tricky before kick-off?
