Bohemians fans banned for next away game after Richmond Park flare incident

Bohemians fans have been banned from attending their next away fixture by an Independent Disciplinary Committee of the FAI following events at Richmond Park last Friday, when a flare thrown from the away end injured Bohs' defender Cian Byrne.

The second half of Friday's league game between St Patrick's Athletic and Bohemians was delayed, the referee taking both sets of players off the pitch after flares rained down on the pitch from the away end.

One of the flares struck Bohemians defender Cian Byrne on the arm, his manager Declan Devine confirming he suffered a burn in the incident.

The League of Ireland confirmed this afternoon that an Independent Disciplinary Committee of the FAI imposed a ban on Bohemians fans attending their next away fixture - which is away to Drogheda United on 4 March (next Monday).

In a statement responding to the news, Bohemians said they would not be appealing the decision.

The club also reiterated their commitment to banning the individuals responsible, adding that the "reckless actions of a small minority had led to the collective punishment of their fanbase."

"Bohemian FC can confirm that the Independent Disciplinary Committee of the FAI has imposed a ban on the club's supporters from attending our next away game against Drogheda United on Monday March 4 and has imposed a fine on the club.

"The club respects the outcome of the hearing and recognises the seriousness of the incidents at Friday's game away to St Patrick's Athletic.

"We will not be appealing the decision.

"We regret that the reckless actions of a small minority have led to the collective punishment of our entire fanbase.
