Keith Treacy: Big risk for Stephen Kenny to make League of Ireland return so quickly

Keith Treacy says that Stephen Kenny would be a huge coup for Bohemians but he questions whether the former Republic of Ireland manager will want to return to the SSE Airtricity League so soon.

The Dalymount Park outfit are on the hunt for a new manager after parting ways with Declan Devine earlier this week. The Gypsies had a poor finish to their 2023 season, missing out on Europe, and with the new campaign heralding just four points from the opening four games the club elected to move in a different direction.

Kenny is currently available after the FAI chose not to give him a new contract with Ireland at the end of last year. The association are still searching for the Dubliner's full-time successor; John O'Shea is set to take the reins for upcoming friendlies against Belgium and Switzerland.

Kenny regularly spoke about how the national gig was his dream job. He previously managed Bohs, as well as Derry City, Longford Town, Shamrock Rovers and most successfully Dundalk.

And, after an unsuccessful spell in the UK with Dunfermline, Treacy says the 52-year-old would be taking a risk returning to the League of Ireland so quickly.

"I could imagine it happening," Treacy, speaking on RTÉ's Game On, began.
