Bohemians come from from behind against UCD to take points from Belfield

Dawson Devoy's third goal in four games rubber-stamped Bohemians’ come-from-behind victory as UCD finished with ten men at the Bowl.

Just a second win from their last six games edges Keith Long's Gypsies to within six points of fourth place in the table. UCD remain three adrift at the bottom.

Both suspended, College boss Andy Myler and his assistant Willie O’Connor watched the first half from the press box as goalkeeping coach Ger Barron called the shots from the dugout.

Bohemians gave a debut to new signing Josh Kerr in central defence with fellow new recruits Declan McDaid, John O’Sullivan and Ryan Burke starting on the bench.

And it was the visitors who initially, at least, settled the better in the warm evening sunshine, passing the ball well to carve the first chance of the game on 12 minutes.

Jordan Flores linked with Liam Burt to cross for Promise Omochere who just couldn’t direct his glancing header on target.

The big Bohs striker was on target four minutes later, but couldn’t beat Kian Moore who made a fine point blank save after Omochere turned adroitly having collected a cross from Devoy.

UCD were well in the game, though, and had Bohs on the rack on 24 minutes from a series of corners, the first of which saw skipper Jack Keaney head against the butt of a post.

Rattled, Bohemians were fortunate to escape coughing up easy possession on 29 minutes.

Donal Higgins fed Tommy Lonergan whose shot lacked sufficient venom to trouble Ryan.

Presented with another opening a minute later, the 18-year-old striker opted for subtlety and it came off beautifully to give UCD the lead.
