Body found in search for missing 57-year-old woman

A body has been found in the search for a missing 57-year-old woman from Bolton, police have confirmed.

It comes after a week of searching for Lynda, who was last seen leaving her home on Parish Drive in Ainsworth, near Bolton, at midday on Saturday (January 4).

The force said her next of kin have been made aware and a file has been passed to the coroner, adding their 'thoughts remain' with Lynda's family. Officers also thanked those who have shared their appeals over Lynda's whereabouts.

Police had previously issued multiple appeals urging people to look out for the 57-year-old, whose surname has not been given.

In a statement, Greater Manchester Police said: "A body has sadly been found in the search for missing Lynda.

"Her next of kin are aware and a file has been passed to the coroner. Our thoughts remain with Lynda's family at this difficult time. Thank you to those who shared our appeals."
