Body blow: Rangers dealt big injury setback ahead of Old Firm, GVB will be gutted - opinion

A big Ibrox injury update has emerged ahead of Rangers’ return to Premiership action this week…

January signing Aaron Ramsey has revealed that he is set to miss out on the chance to make his debut on Wednesday night.

He told Rangers TV, via the Glasgow Times: “I’m probably going to be a little bit short for the Old Firm game but hopefully I can get myself ready this week and look forward to getting ready for the weekend, really.

“I’ve had these conversations with the manager and the staff and hopefully we can get a plan in place to get going and back up to match fitness as soon as possible.”

Gio van Bronckhorst will surely be gutted by this news as it means that he will need to wait until the weekend, or potentially later, to see the Wales international in action for his side.

This means that Ramsey could have provided a boost in the final third, as he has proven over the course of his career that he can score goals at the top level.

He scored 65 goals during his time with Arsenal and has 20 goals in 71 caps for Wales, whilst he produced six strikes and six assists in 70 matches for Juventus in Italy. The midfielder has the quality to be a difference-maker in the final third with his knack to get on the end of chances along with creating them for his teammate through his own passing range.

Therefore, van Bronckhorst will be gutted that he appears set to watch on from the sidelines as Rangers take on Celtic at Parkhead on Wednesday. Although, the excitement could then build for his potential debut against Hearts at Ibrox this
