Blind excites Man Utd fans with Ten Hag review but also offers a warning

Daley Blind says Manchester United fans can expect attacking football and a winning mentality from new manager Erik ten Hag, but warns his former club that their new boss is a ‘control freak’.

Ten Hag has been tasked with leading a huge rebuild at Old Trafford, with plenty of players expected to leave this summer and a number of new signings expected.

It is not just personnel, though, with a cultural reworking required in the squad and the Dutchman needing to bring a recognisable style of play with him from Ajax.

Blind played under Ten Hag at the Dutch giants so knows his methods well and thinks he brings with him a philosophy that will go down well at Old Trafford.

The 32-year-old, who played for the Red Devils from 2014-18, has warned that Ten Hag is a ‘control freak’ but that may prove to be no bad thing, as legendary United boss Alex Ferguson could have been described in the same way.

‘A manager who loves to play attacking football, which is what Man United stands for, I think,’ Blind told United Daily of Ten Hag.

‘A manager who knows what he wants. To keep everyone on board and with the same direction to get that winning mentality and winning trophies.

‘In Ajax, he knows that everyone in the club is important and everyone needs to be involved to get to that winning mentality. He wants to keep everything close, and I think he is also a control freak.

‘He wants to be on top of everything.’
