Blackpool handed quadruple injury boost ahead of Nottingham Forest clash

Blackpool could welcome up to four players back from injury for the weekend’s clash against Nottingham Forest as Championship action returns.

Forest travel to the coast as they take on the Seasiders at Bloomfield Road in Saturday’s early kick-off. Blackpool have been plagued with a number of injuries so far this season, but the weekend could see the return of some key players.

Defender Richard Keogh has already confirmed that he ‘should be available’ for the game after recovering from a calf injury. The problem has seen the former Derby County man miss the last seven Championship games after leaving the field in the 1-1 draw vs Coventry City at the start of February.

Keogh however is not the only Blackpool player who could make his return at the weekend. As reported by LancsLive, attacking midfielder Keshi Anderson is in the final stages of recovery from a hamstring injury and could make a comeback against Forest. The 26-year-old has four goals and five assists so far this season.

Anderson is said to be back in full training ahead of the game, with central midfielder Matty Virtue and goalkeeper Chris Maxwell both reported to be ‘back on the grass.’ Both players are not far away from recovery, although this week could be key in deciding if they have recovered enough in time to be able to feature against Forest.

Steve Cooper’s men go into the game in ninth place in the Championship table, three points adrift of the play-off places. A win over Blackpool will move them, at least temporarily, up to fifth place ahead of the 3pm kick-offs on Saturday afternoon.
