Blackburn Rovers' injury and suspension latest ahead of Sheffield United clash

Sheffield United will be looking to stretch their unbeaten run to nine matches when they host Blackburn Rovers in an important game in the Championship promotion race.

The Blades come into the game off the back of an impressive 4-0 win over Swansea City thanks to a Morgan Gibbs-White brace and goals from Billy Sharp and George Baldock.

It was an excellent performance from Paul Heckingbottom's side, who have since moved into the top-six for the first time this season.

There's just four points and three places separating the Blades and Rovers ahead of the clash at Bramall Lane and the outcome could be pivotal in the destiny of the two sides' campaign.

Meanwhile, Tony Mowbray's side have failed to win any of their last four matches and will be hoping to stay in touch with the top-two after their game against Millwall was postponed on the weekend.

Although Captain Darragh Lenihan will return following his one-match ban, Rovers still have a number of injury issues to deal with ahead of the game.

Daniel Ayala had been due to start in place of Lenihan in the 0-0 draw at West Bromwich Albion, but withdrew from the side due to a calf issue which is expected to sideline him in midweek.

Top scorer Ben Brereton will miss the game with an ankle issue having come off in the second half of last Monday's stalemate at West Brom as Rovers failed to score for a fourth consecutive match.

Deyovaisio Zeefuik could return for the trip to Bramall Lane after recovering from a hamstring injury which has kept him out for the past three matches.

It has been a frustrating season for Tayo Edun, who will be missing with an ankle injury and will be out for at least the remainder of the month, while Ian Poveda and Dilan Markanday are long-term concerns.
