Birmingham City transfer notebook: O'Dowda, Oliver and more Blues news

Birmingham City’s season is over and amid all the takeover talk going on in the background, Blues have no option but to carry on and prepare for next term. That includes making moves in the transfer market which is starting to warm up.

Championship rivals Cardiff and Bristol City have got the ball rolling, releasing established players and making signings, while other clubs are taking care of housekeeping, triggering options or agreeing new deals with existing squad members.

Some have produced formal release/retain lists – something all clubs have to do by the deadline date of May 21.

Blues haven’t done that yet but they are working on finalising their list and looking at options for next season. Here’s a round-up of the latest Birmingham City transfer news.

The Republic of Ireland international has been released by Bristol City and is said to be interesting seven Championship clubs. Blues are one of those, as – according to BristolLive – are Cardiff.

In six years at Ashton Gate he made 176 appearances and scored ten goals but found his opportunities limited under Nigel Pearson this season. Indeed the left winger made only 16 starts throughout an injury-affected campaign. BristolLive believe he will make a decision on his future in the next week.

Speaking to BBC Radio Bristol Pearson said: "It’s just time for a change. I think Callum has been here for six years. He goes with our best wishes. He is a really good lad, but it’s time for change. It’s time for a shift in a different direction, it’s as simple as that."
