Bill Tupou to make Wakefield Trinity return in strong reserves side

Bill Tupou will make a return to action alongside a number of star names tomorrow night as Wakefield Trinity reserves take on their Hull FC counterparts. Tupou hasn’t featured since June last year after rupturing his patellar tendon whilst in action for the West Yorkshire side against Castleford Tigers.

The centre underwent surgery in the weeks that followed that injury and he has been through a long and arduous rehabilitation process since. However, it seems he nearing full fitness and Willie Poching will be keen to see him in action against Michael Shenton’s Black and Whites on Friday night.

He’s not the only first-teamer involved in the Trinity second string side either with the West Yorkshire outfit attempting to make the most of the Challenge Cup final weekend. Wakefield’s first-team aren’t in action until June 5 when they face FC’s senior side at Belle Vue, but a number of high profile players will get a run out before then.

Kelepi Tanginoa will start for the reserves after being named in the back-row, while Eddie Battye, Tinirau Arona and Rob Butler will all be included from the outset. Max Jowitt will appear at full-back, too, as he edges his way back to full fitness.

Lewis Murphy has scored five tries in seven games for Trinity this year and he’ll feature for the reserves, while Brad Walker and Harry Bowes have also been involved on a frequent basis.

Hull FC are expected to name a few first-teamers, too, although they are yet to release their squad.

Max Jowitt; Lewis Murphy, Bill Tupou, Jack Croft, Kyle Evans; Brad Walker, Robbie Butterworth; Rob Butler, Harry Bowes, Tinirau Arona; Kelepi Tanginoa, Pat O’Donovan; Eddie Battye.

Jake Camplin, Oli Farrar, Luke Mearns, Ellis Roberts.
