Biker taken to hospital as police cordon off main road after crash

A biker was taken to hospital after a crash involving a motorbike and two cars on a main road in Tameside.

Emergency services, including police officers and paramedics, were called to the scene on the A627 Oldham Road in Ashton-under-Lyne just after 7pm last night (Monday). A cordon was put in place between Springwood Way and Vale Street.

Police confirmed that the motorcyclist was rushed to hospital. The driver of one of the cars was detained at the scene, the force added.

Pictures taken last night showed a section of the road taped off with a bike on the ground in the centre of the cordon. The block was in place for several hours as investigations were carried out.

According to Transport for Greater Manchester, the road was reopened at around 10pm. A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "We were called to the scene on Oldham Road at 7.07pm. It was a road traffic collision involving two cars and a motorcycle.

"One man - the motorcyclist - was taken to hospital. One was detained."

The Manchester Evening News has also contacted the North West Ambulance Service for details.
