Big Show once disobeyed WWE and smashed TV monitors backstage

Big Show is one of WWE’s biggest-ever Superstars, both in terms of star power and sheer size.

Show joined WWE from WCW in 1999, winning the WWE Championship three years later in 2002. He stayed until his contract expired in February 2007.

One year later, WWE brought him back into the company, and he stayed around until 2021, when he left for All Elite Wrestling (AEW), where he works now as a commentator/occasional wrestler.

From his days in WWE, several stories have emerged regarding Big Show, all of which show him to be quite the character.

Former WWE writer Matt McCarthy, speaking on the Universal Wrestling Podcast, has now spoken about the time when Big Show disobeyed orders and went off-script.

During a backstage segment, the former WWE Champion was told not to touch the TV monitors… and he simply didn’t listen.

McCarthy said that he punched the monitor and it then “smashed into a thousand pieces”, as he recalled:

I remember one time there was a backstage [segment]. We specifically told Big Show, ‘Don’t touch the TV monitor,’. And instead, he punched it and it smashed into a thousand pieces.

“I remember Teddy Long was standing next to me and he goes, ‘Oh my God! They told him not to touch the gimmick and then he punches the gimmick!“

Big Show is one of WWE’s most recognisable stars of all time, mainly due to his sheer size, as well as his name value.

In fact, Big Show ranks as one of the tallest WWE stars ever, along with former tag team partner Kane, and you can find a full list of the ten tallest by clicking right here.

Due to his enormous frame, it isn’t surprising to see Big Show ranked as one of the strongest WWE Superstars too, which you can also read more about by clicking here.
