Liverpool fans will no doubt be hugely disappointed at seeing Sadio Mane leave Anfield.
The Senegalese forward has joined Bayern Munich in a £31m deal and has penned a three-year contract at the Allianz Arena. His departure brings to an end a trophy-laden spell with the Reds having won practically every domestic and European title on offer to him.
However, it appears that Mane’s sale ushers in a new era under Jurgen Klopp on Merseyside and one that should see them continue their successful period under the German. With Mane now on the wrong side of 30 and having just one year left on his contract, it made sense for the Reds to move the forward on.
However, the club were not just content with sticking with the options that they already had. They moved to sign Mane’s potential replacement in the January transfer window with the arrival of FC Porto star Luis Diaz.
The Colombian enjoyed a hot start to life at Anfield having played a pivotal role in the club’s pursuit of an unprecedented quadruple. In the meantime, the Reds have even gone one further this summer with the potential club record arrival of Benfica hotshot Darwin Nunez.
