"Big moment in the Tuchel era" - Journalist drops Chelsea claim after huge transfer development

Chelsea‘s move for Manchester City star Raheem Sterling feels like a “big moment” in the Thomas Tuchel era, says journalist Dean Jones.

The Blues are inching closer to signing the England international after agreeing personal terms with him.

On Wednesday, The Telegraph reported that Chelsea and Sterling had reached an agreement over a move to Stamford Bridge this summer.

According to the same outlet, he is set to become the highest-paid player at the club, earning a slight increase on his £300,000-a-week deal at City.

Sterling’s arrival will come as a huge boost to Chelsea, who did not score enough goals last season compared to both City and Liverpool.

While the Premier League’s top two teams finished the campaign with 90 plus goals, Tuchel’s men were only able to record 76.

In his senior career, Sterling has found the back of the net on 154 occasions, so he should help them out in that department.

Speaking to GMS, the transfer insider said: “The plan has been to get the Sterling deal through this week – he raises the level as soon as pre-season properly gets underway. This feels like a big moment in the Tuchel era.”

Since arriving in west London, Tuchel has mostly used a 3-4-3/3-4-2-1 formation. With that in mind, there is a good chance that the Chelsea faithful could see an attack of Sterling, Kai Havertz and Mason Mount, with the first of that trio starting on the left flank.

However, it has also been suggested that Sterling could be used more centrally, which would not be too much of a shock.
