Big Brother housemate reprimanded for 'language used' as fans demand removal

One housemate has been spoken to by Big Brother about the language they have used while on the show after which they apologised for the possible offence.

During Thursday's episode, Sarah was called to the diary room to be 'told off' regarding previous comments which some found insensitive.

Earlier, she admitted that her 'joke' was 'not politically correct' when she said 'stop the gloats' during a previous shopping task when housemates were separated into vampires and villagers.

While explaining her comments to Hanah, she admitted it was referring to the slogan 'stop the boats' and may have been insensitive.

She also encouraged other housemates to chant the phrase during the task.

After discovering what she said, Hanah and Segun later discussed the matter amongst themselves and shared how they were concerned regarding the racial sensitivity surrounding it.

Khaled also admitted that he feared at times he was being targeted with comments by some in the house. As a result, Sarah was called to the diary room.

Big Brother said that the show involves people from different backgrounds with varied life experiences. They also shared that the comments had impacted Sarah's fellow housemates.

Speaking about the incident, Sarah said: "For me, it was just funny because it rhymed, and I don't really talk about politics that often because it's not something I'm interested in, but it was a joke.

"It had no racial connotations, I have no connotations about boats or immigration, or anything like that. It was just making funny of political slogans."

Viewers watching on at home were pleased to see how events ultimately concluded, claiming that it was important that the show called out the inappropriate comments.
