"Big bad game" - Trent Alexander-Arnold opens up on how Liverpool handled Manchester United loss

Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold has opened up on how his side reacted to their 2-1 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford.

As the full-time whistle blew in West London, all eyes turned nervously to the fixture list and saw Liverpool waiting. Erik ten Hag's side had conceded six goals in two games against Brighton and Brentford and now Jurgen Klopp's team were next up in what would be the Dutchman's toughest test so far.

The Old Trafford crowd got behind the team from the start however, as they roared their side into life from the first tackle. The Reds came away with a 2-1 win, thanks to goals either side of half-time from Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford.

The victory sparked the start of four successive Premier League wins, as Ten Hag's side claimed all three points against Southampton, Leicester and Arsenal as well, seeing United turn their fortunes around.

Beating your rivals at home is always a moment to savour, yet being on the other end of the result is a bitter blow to both morale and momentum. Alexander-Arnold has now opened up on Liverpool's defeat, as he recalls what happened in the immediate aftermath of the full-time whistle being blown.

Speaking on Red Bull's 'We Go Again', he said: "The manager speaks directly after the game and then we have a meeting the following day as well for like five minutes or so, and then the manager will speak again about the game - after he’s had a bit more time to process it and it’s not just acting on raw emotion.

"That was probably the big bad game we had early on this season I would say, which was rough."
