Manchester United fans are split on whether the club's reported decision to scrap their end-of-season award ceremony is right or wrong.
It’s been a dismal season for the United’s first team, who are set to end the campaign with the club’s lowest ever Premier League points total. Having held ambitions of a title challenge before the campaign, United have fallen woefully short of expectations.
A disastrous season has seen United fail to even reach the Premier League’s top four. And their failure has reportedly led to the club deciding to scrap the annual end-of-season ceremony.

According to the Mirror, the club have done away with this year’s awards ceremony, with United’s players said to be 'too embarrassed' to attend the black-tie event. The gala dinner hasn't been held since 2019 due to the Covid pandemic, although it usually takes place during the final fortnight of the season, but has not gone ahead so far this year.
While there may have been very few candidates for awards from the first team, it has been a much better campaign for the club’s youth and women’s teams. The former ended the 11-year wait for an FA Youth Cup win, while the latter narrowly missed out on a place in next season’s Champions League on the final day of the season.
And lots of United fans feel those sides deserve some recognition. Many have called for the Player of the Year awards to go ahead, but agree the first team shouldn’t be involved.
United will end their season on Sunday as they make the trip to Crystal Palace, and could face further humiliation as West Ham aim to leapfrog them into the final Europa League spot for next season. Incoming
