Benjamin Sesko Man United move influenced by new transfer rule as 'secret' emerges

Manchester United still have work to do in the summer transfer window - despite several promising signings.

The Reds have acquired Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Diego Leon so far as United boss Ruben Amorim looks to change the culture at Old Trafford. The club are also eyeing a new striker to fix their goalscoring woes from last term with RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko United's primary target for the No.9 position.

A new midfielder and goalkeeper have also been mooted, but sales are likely to be needed to facilitate further moves beyond Sesko. Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia have all been training away from the first team at Carrington as they eye moves away from Old Trafford.

Amorim's recent comments suggest that United have completed thorough checks on Sesko's character before accelerating their interest. It comes after previous claims that the Reds have faced attitude problems, fallouts and dressing room leaks with their squad.

"It is a key point in our way of doing things now," he told club media at United's training base in Chicago.

"It's not just how they play. It's really important how they play, of course, because that is their job, but their character is really important.

"We took a lot of time to get to know the players and talk with everybody before we brought players into our group. That is going to be a rule and will be massive in our decision to sign a player."
